Hey fam,
I just wanted to take a moment to share something that has been on my heart. I am incredibly happy and grateful for the creative journey I've been on, especially with the YouTube channel. However, I’ve made the decision to step back from making more personal videos for now in order to set some healthy boundaries while staying creative on my own terms.
Being a good parent, a working mom, and a wife—while also nurturing my creative passions—has been a balancing act. Lately, I’ve realized that in order to truly be present for my family and myself, I needed to shift my focus. That doesn’t mean I’ve stopped creating! One channel you may be subscribed to will focus on my creative design pursuits focused mostly on helping others be creative and the other will be about family food and groceries. We still show up on livestreaming on our storefront too so be sure to follow us there and come see us in real time. The content may have changed for now, both on the channel and online, but I’m still here, still creating, still connecting.
One thing I’ve learned is that creating YouTube videos changes with the seasons of life. What once felt exciting and fulfilling can sometimes start to feel like pressure, or even something that no longer aligns with our current priorities. There are days when putting up a video feels amazing, like we’re making an impact and expressing our creativity, but on another day, that same video might make us feel different—questioning, evolving, or realizing we want to shift directions. And that’s okay! We should give ourselves the freedom to change, grow, and pivot when needed.
Sometimes, we feel an attachment to what we've built, making it hard to let go or take a break. But creativity isn’t a rigid path—it ebbs and flows just like life does. The important thing is to recognize when something no longer serves us in the same way and allow ourselves to adapt. There’s a misconception that consistency means doing the same thing forever, but true growth comes from listening to our hearts and making changes when needed. Every creator deserves the grace to explore different expressions of their work without feeling like they are letting anyone down.
That’s one of the reasons I love this space on Substack. It allows me to share my thoughts, ideas, and creativity in a way that feels aligned with this season of life. If you’ve been following along on my journey and want to stay updated, I’d love for you to subscribe here. This is where I’ll continue to build community and share creative insights, even if my YouTube content looks a little different at the moment.
Another big shift I’ve made is stepping away from social media. It no longer serves me in the way it once did, and honestly, removing it from my daily routine has been a breath of fresh air. The constant need to keep up, post, and engage was taking a toll on my focus and mental health. Now, without the noise and pressure of social media, I feel more present, more creative, and more at peace. Prioritizing my well-being over an online presence has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
We also have a growing collection of books available online under FREETOFAMILY PRESS! We absolutely love creating books and journals that are meaningful for the whole family—whether it’s to inspire creativity, support mental health, establish routines, stay organized, or encourage intentional living. Our goal is to provide simple, helpful tools that make life a little more joyful and fulfilling for everyone while staying creative and at peace.
If you're still looking for creative inspiration, don’t forget to check out the books we create as well as our Book Biz Builder Workshop! You know what? Who knows? The channel may evolve again in the future. I haven't given up—I've simply taken a detour to prioritize what matters most right now. Thank you all for your support, understanding, and encouragement. It truly means the world to me.
Let’s keep creating and growing together!
Much love,
K/FREETOFAMILY
